GoGrid Hosts Third Cloud Meetup Featuring James Gosling, the “Father of Java”
San Francisco, Calif. - May 16, 2013 - GoGrid, a leading cloud infrastructure company, today announced the third in a series of cloud hosting meetups from 5:30–7:30pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the 111 Minna Gallery (Second Street Room) in San Francisco. Guest speaker James Gosling, chief software architect at Liquid Robotics, will share his thoughts on creativity and why it takes more than innovative technology to make a good idea successful.
Gosling was a Sun Fellow at Sun Microsystems when he did the original design of Java and implemented Java's original compiler and virtual machine. Today, Java is one of the most widely used programming languages in the world, with a reported 10 million users. In recognition of his contributions, Gosling has received numerous awards, including The Economist Innovation Award in 2002. His current company, Liquid Robotics, is an early adopter of cloud computing and its technology gathers a variety of oceanic data via a wave-powered, autonomous marine robot called the Wave Glider®.
GoGrid CEO and cloud pioneer, John Keagy, will introduce Gosling and set the stage for an evening of stimulating conversation, networking, and a chance to meet with BEAR Data Solutions, NetApp, and ScaleArc, GoGrid partners and event co-sponsors.
Like GoGrid's previous cloud meetups, next week's event is free and includes drinks and appetizers. Space is limited, however, and advance registration is required.
